Animation & Sound Workshop

"It's always ourselves we find in the sea"

BAFTA award-winning animator, Cat Bruce, and sound designer, Keith Duncan, return to Cromarty this year following the success of last year's wee film created over the festival weekend (that you can view here).

Using very traditional animation techniques, Cat will guide participants to illustrate the themes of our chosen poem while Keith will work with everyone to create a soundtrack.

And here is the chosen poem so participants can have a think about any images and sound that it conjures up for you before your session...

Maggie And Milly And Molly And May

maggie and milly and molly and may
went down to the beach(to play one day)

and maggie discovered a shell that sang
so sweetly she couldn’t remember her troubles,and

milly befriended a stranded star
whose rays five languid fingers were;

and molly was chased by a horrible thing
which raced sideways while blowing bubbles:and

may came home with a smooth round stone
as small as a world and as large as alone.

For whatever we lose (like a you or a me)
it’s always ourselves we find in the sea
 

Suitable for both adults and children (children must be accompanied by an adult).
Booking advised as there are only 10 places per session.

Takes place in the Loft Studio (top floor) of the Old Brewery (Hub).

This workshop takes place first on Saturday, 10am - 1pm and is repeated again on Sunday, 10am - 1pm.
